The Free Release of the Materials Resulting from the Decommissioning of the Vvr-s Research Reactor
All materials used during the nuclear reactor operation are potential radioactive wastes. The role of the free release of materials from regulatory control is to reduce the amount of radioactive wastes. The CNCAN allows licensees to release materials according to pre-established criteria which comply with Romanian standards and international recommendations. In this paper, the methodology used ...
متن کاملFukushima Daiichi Unit 1 Accident Progression Uncertainty Analysis and Implications for Decommissioning of Fukushima Reactors ? Volume I
Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) has conducted an uncertainty analysis (UA) on the Fukushima Daiichi unit (1F1) accident progression with the MELCOR code. The model used was developed for a previous accident reconstruction investigation jointly sponsored by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). That study focused on reconstructing the accident progressions...
متن کاملRadioactive Graphite Management at Uk Magnox Nuclear Power Stations
The UK nuclear power industry is predominantly based on gas-cooled, graphite moderated reactors with their being 20 operating and 6 shutdown Magnox reactors. The radioactive graphite issues associated with the Magnox reactors relate mainly to the reactor core graphite but, at two of the stations, there is also another graphite waste stream which results from the handling of their particular des...
متن کاملSafety Research Activities on Radioactive Waste Management in JNES
Research activities in safety regulation of radioactive waste management are presented. Major activities are as follows. As for the geological disposal, major research areas are, developing “safety indicators” to judge the adequacy of site investigation results presented by an implementer (NUMO), compiling basic requirements of safety design and safety assessment needed to make a safety review ...
متن کاملFinancial planning for the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant
After their service life is over, nuclear power plants must be decommissioned. Accordingly, Sweden has a system with segregated funds to cover the costs. Payments to the funds are dictated by the results of recurrent cost estimates. Recently, differences have been observed between different estimations for the Barsebäck BWR:s. Therefore, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, who oversees the ...
